SXSW Hackathon Innovates Music, VR, AR, AI, and Blockchain - Adaptus

ATTENTION HACKERS!
DEMONSTRATE YOUR INGENUITY AT THE SXSW HACKATHON

The sixth annual SXSW Hackathon returns in a buzzy 24-hour marathon stretching from Tuesday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 13! Developers, coders, and tech creatives will collaborate in teams to build tech that addresses the range of media covered at SXSW,  from Music and VR/AR to AI and blockchain.

The top three projects will be awarded cash prizes by our panel of veteran creative industry judges. You’ll have a chance to work with our resident artists and entrepreneurs and use your programming knowledge, public APIs and tools — along with our exclusive collection of partner APIs and SDKs — to develop your industry-changing prototypes. We welcome all skill levels and specialties.

Participation is free with an approved application — no SXSW badge is required. Accepted competitors will also be offered a discounted rate on a SXSW Interactive, Film, or Music badge at the lowest rate if you wish to experience the rest of SXSW. Plus, discounted Student and Faculty badge rates are also available through Jan. 17 — find more info here.

Hackers will create across these SXSW media spheres: Music,VR/AR, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain.

Questions our hackers will address with their innovations:

Commerce & Industry — How is money getting to artists, creators and rights-holders, and can emerging technologies like blockchain, micropayments or micro-licensing help facilitate and manage the process? How can creatives connect with the right industry players to mutually further careers?

Creation and Performance — How can musicians, VR/AR designers, and other creatives use tech to produce, perform, and display in new ways? What tools can be created to make the process easier or more inventive?

Distribution — With the fragmentation of distribution systems, physical media, and streaming options, how do creators get their work out to the public and in front of the ideal audience?

Consumer — How can we improve the fan, customer, listener, viewer or user experience?

Cross-discipline — How can creators collaborate more easily and more creatively across audio, visual, and immersive fields?

A small number of hand-selected teams will be also offered an intensive two-day Hackathon Incubator, running Thursday March 14 – Friday March 15, 2019. Leading entrepreneurs and artists will mentor teams to refine their creations from science projects into real startups with users and customers, taking advantage of the creative atmosphere at SXSW!

Devpost will be our hosting partner again for 2018.

See you in March!
